Deirdre Spencer, senior designer

Deirdre Spencer’s life-long love of fine art coupled with her interest in computers and media made graphic design a natural career path. Since building her first corporate Web site in 1996, her Web design has won numerous awards, including five prestigious Horizon Interactive Awards since 2005. She enjoys the ever-evolving challenge of fusing great design and branding strategies with innovative Web technology.
With substantial experience in designing print and electronic marketing collateral, she has worked with a wide range of clients, including visual effects companies, museums and other non-profit organizations, best-selling romance authors, and Silicon Valley start-ups. At Placemaking Group, Deirdre continues to bring her strong design sense to suit the marketing needs of our diverse clientele.
Deirdre’s impressive portfolio includes Web sites, brochures, newsletters, marketing collateral and signage for clients such as McRoskey Mattress Company, the City of Fairfield, Shorenstein Realty Services, the American Iron and Steel Institute and the City of Emeryville as well as the Oakland International Airport, The Berkshire Museum, Taproot Foundation, and MASS.ILLUSION, the Oscar-winning visual effects company behind The Matrix.
She studied oil painting and printmaking as an undergraduate at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, and graduated from The School of Visual Arts, New York City, with a bachelor’s of fine arts in Media/Graphic Design.
