Irv Hamilton is interested in just about everything. That's one of the reasons why he is so good at handling complicated marketing issues and publicity challenges for Placemaking Group clients. In his many years working in PR, advertising and promotion–15 spent on the client side of the business–Irv has learned a lot about just about everything.
As senior vice president of Placemaking Group, Irv provides strategic direction for its client's public relations initiatives. He digs into a client's business so that he can fully understand its marketing challenges and opportunities as well as provide thoughtful counsel.
Irv cut his teeth in the big leagues of marketing as a copywriter for 3M and then a promotion manager with the
Wall Street Journal. He moved on to work for industry giant Kaiser Aluminum. From there, he crossed over to the agency business where he has been ever since. Irv has worked in public relations and marketing communication management in the publishing, aluminum, real estate and wine industries, and has developed and managed programs for business-to-business, real estate, travel and tourism, utility, professional service and transportation clients.
He earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Northwestern University and a master's degree from California State University, San Francisco. He served as a military journalist with the Army's 2nd Cavalry in Germany. Irv is currently putting the final touches on a novel based on the experiences of a Cold War soldier.
