Jan Burch, vice president
strategy
| curious | story teller
Spend any amount of time with Jan Burch and you’ll find Jan likes to get to the heart of the matter. She thinks she was born that way but wherever it came from Jan is curious. Curious about her clients, their companies, their clients, what it is that makes them successful, what is it they do or provide that makes a difference in peoples’ lives. And then she likes to tell that story in a variety of ways through marketing strategies and materials.
At Placemaking Group, Jan heads up the company’s Sacramento office. Her 25 years of experience in Northern California has allowed Jan the opportunity to work with some of the most successful companies and rewarding causes and projects in the Greater Sacramento area. From the introduction of U.S Bank into California, to the restoration of the oldest and largest Cathedral west of the Mississippi, Jan dives into projects employing a depth of public relations expertise and skills that include research and positioning, media relations, community relations, marketing strategies and materials.
Jan began her career as a journalist, writer and editor working for magazines in Arizona, Southern California and finally Sacramento Magazine where her interest in public relations caused her to start her own public relations company. What has always stayed with Jan throughout the years is her love of journalism that has translated into an ability to deal with the media to generate strategic media coverage for clients.
Jan joined the Placemaking Group to be able to provide a greater depth of expertise to her clients including web design, social and internet marketing, research and branding.
A partial list of current and past clients include the Port of Long Beach, California State Fair, Ice Cream Safari, Sacramento Water Festival, Restoration of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Kleinfelder, California Lottery, Avon, Crystal Cream & Butter Company and River City Bank.
