What are your thoughts about Sacramento these days? Mine is that there’s a lot going on. Of course the state government is always up to something. Actually, a lot of things! But there are also very interesting businesses growing and some really exciting real estate deals going on. One of the goals for Placemaking Group has been to get more involved in that Capitol City. It is my delight to announce that we’ve opened up our Sacramento office with Jan Burch in the lead role there. I asked Jan about Sacramento. Here’s what she told me…
“I moved from Los Angeles to Sacramento for a job. I had my career mapped. I would transfer, within the company, to San Francisco within a year. And then something happened. I met my husband. We made Sacramento our home. I opened a public relations firm, became involved in the community. I had a family.
“I’ve watched our community, my clients and friends, raise our children, build businesses, revitalize communities, protect our rivers, re-shape school boards, create incubators for small businesses, biotech, fuel efficient cars, and sustainable energy. I experience thousands of people gathering together every winter to donate time, money and food to feed and shelter the homeless. I see reporters tell the story of residents who have no health care, and I watch the community reach out to help them. I’m glad Sacramento is my home.”

Jan began her career as a journalist, writer and editor working for magazines in Arizona, Southern California, and finally Sacramento Magazine, where her interest in public relations caused her to start her own public relations company. What has always stayed with Jan throughout the years is her love of journalism that has translated into an ability to deal with the media to generate strategic media coverage for clients.

how many sites have you visited where you get back to the home page of the site by clicking a big “home” link? Quite a few, I bet. All these sites are missing out on some easy, free keyword optimization. They’re optimizing their home page for “home” when they should be optimizing it for their main keyword. You could change the “home” text to read “seo firm home”, “cake recipes home”, thereby giving yourself a boost for “seo firm” or “cake recipes”.
